The Albert Project is a research-based collaborative effort focused on providing an excellent standard of care to long-term care residents contending with the daily effects of dementia.

The project goal is to improve the quality of life for these residents using the immersive engagement of Virtual Reality combined with the emotive effect of carefully curated music. 

The study seeks to determine whether the immersive experience can positively calm the agitated and elevate the depressed dementia residents – ultimately providing comfort to them, their families, and their caregivers as each one confronts the deterioration associated with dementia and Alzheimers.

Western University‘s Dr. Karen Campbell is leading the study in conjunction with Long term care provider Primacare Living Solutions, Crosswater Digital Media, and the generous support of the Centre for Aging & Brain Health Innovation and Canada’s Minister of Health Ginette Petitpas Taylor. 

Other project affiliates include the Ontario Long Term Care Association and the Global Ageing Network.
