HaptX Gloves

We all know VR as a media platform that facilitates full ‘immersion’, but there are still steps to take to reach full ‘presence.’ One of the most interesting of these advancements was recently debuted at the Sundance Film Festival. HaptX gloves use haptic technology to to simulate touch. Stimulation of the sense of touch, paired with 360 video and spatial audio brings users closer to a fully immersive and ‘present’ experience. VR technology will continue to engage us in new ways as we move forward! #VR #immersion #haptic #haptX #VRgloves #360video #spatialaudio #virtualreality #presence #experience #welcometothefuture

New Measurement of Time

The time has come for VR! Facebook has created a new unit of time to accommodate VR production. A ‘flick’ is smaller than a nanosecond (previously the smallest unit of time measurement) and is used to precisely pair 360 video with spatial audio. Unfathomably small increments of time can put video and audio out of sync and tarnish the immersive impact that VR has on its users. This is good news for us at Crosswater. As VR/360 producers, we strive to provide full immersion by means of 360 video, spatial audio, and virtual environment design.
